Cell Outing to Ipoh & Lata Kinjang,Perak
- 6 Mar'05
Sunday morning dawned bright and sunny, a glorious day for the much awaited drive to
Ipoh and to this scenic
waterfall. All in all, we were 17 adults and 8 kids in 7 cars – We reach Ipoh just in time for
a bowl of Curry Mee that is franchise to Hong Kong and the highly popular Ipoh Old Town White Coffee. Exiting from the highway we turned
into Tapah town and set off for Chenderiang just outside Tapah. The route to the waterfall was well sign posted along the
way. We were treated to a fantastic view of the waterfall as we made our way through the twisty road to our destination, which
was just a five-minute walk away from the car park. This majestic multi-tiered waterfall cascades 850 metres down the side
of a mountain and proves a spectacular sight. The kids and their parents invading
the lower reaches of the waterfall, frolicking in the clear waters, while the rest sat under the many canopies provided
at the picnic area. A proper ring walkway took the more energetic ones to the highest possible landings at the foot of the
cliff wall. A suspension bridge joins the opposite bank to complete the loop. By the time you reach the bridge, the ascend
could be close to 65 meters. The elevated bridge over the ravine gives a full effect of this dramatic fall against the wall
and a bird's eye view of the valley and picnic area all the way down, makes this place a "Must visit" All too soon it was
time to leave. We said our goodbyes and dispersed on our separate ways with many a promise to meet up again at the next cell
outing. Our convoy made its way via a lovely winding road through the Orang Asli settlement before rejoining the expressway.
In totality, this place is truly magnificent, good adventure, fair trekking and a fantastic sight.
